Nostalgia. The word produces in mind a joyous familiarity felt when doing something in this that we really enjoyed doing during the past. Gaming isn’t any different. Everyone has games that restore memories from, our thoughts of now as, better times. Hindsight is usually a like the snob that suggests what you could do, hindsight lets us know our childhood might possibly not have been as bad even as we thought. As adults we all know how the earth works. When we were being raised, we never really a grip about the world. Hindsight lets us know that those times were better, safer, easier. Games that trigger nostalgia puts us inside the mindset of any kid again. It makes us feel safe, secure, and protected. Humans use a natural tendency to require safety and protection. Especially the adults, because as adults could just how quickly the globe can go from OK at some point, to horrible your next. As gamers we seek safety in games.

I started gaming when I was very young since several gamers my maturity did. I was raised playing Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 with my mom and sister. Super Mario, Kirby, and Mario Cart were some of the titles that individuals played. Zelda was maybe the biggest game we played. My mom has difficulties with fast-moving games like Call of Duty along with highly graphic games. So we played Super Nintendo and just what a time it was! Zelda within the Super Nintendo we beat often times. I say “we” however it was my mom playing not me or my sister. Even great deal of thought while penning this I’m getting nostalgia. We kept drawing near the end and so the game wiping our save out and we all started over like triple. It was happy times. That was when I was around six or seven or eight. Long time ago. Nostalgia provides hope for the long run. It informs us that if happy times happened in past times then more excitement will happen inside future.

Later I started gaming alone. It is difficult to think as to what game came next in chronological order nevertheless they all a theme: single-player strategy. A broad gaming description that could fit many games inside it. Games like Pharaoh and Cleopatra, Age of Empires II, as well as Sid Meier’s Civilization III. I was not in a position to play shooters while they had bad language included and so was limited by single player games. My parents were very protective and games weren’t as prevalent 20 years ago when they are now. Pharaoh is often a city builder placing you in ancient Egypt. The goal of the experience was the build great cities while using the resources you can use and it was a serious challenge on an eleven year-old. Age of Empires II can be a real-time strategy game that’s completely different from pharaoh. You have to balance resource collection and troop production to look at down either AI or some other players. Civ III was probably the most popular game maturing. To this day, I still play pharaoh and ages of empires II.

Think by what nostalgia is again just for a second. It can be a feeling originating from a memory. A memory of “better times” that could or most likely are not accurate. Games we played several years ago, that literally brings back those memories, may not continue to be fun. Civ III I played for many hours when I was younger isn’t as fun ever since I am older so I will not play it all the now. Sometimes nostalgia lies.

In conclusion, nostalgia in games is usually a good thing. It we can relive areas of our childhood that people otherwise would not employ a reason to recreate up through the depths in our minds. Many people state that video games result in anti-social behavior, violence, along with a drop in education grades. Video games teach us what sort of world is. When you are playing multiplayer from a game you will usually find those who are just toxic. It prepares for coping with the worst society should throw at us. Human beings are susceptible to violence. The first murder happened when Cain killed Abel way back in Genesis. I am sure at they did not have video gaming back then. So this point is definitely going to be moot. The only point that makes sense may be the drop in education grades. It takes significant amounts of discipline to complete school work over game titles. It builds character this discipline. So the very next time you feel nostalgia beginning, take time to stop and smell the memories. Bask inside the thoughts of better times along with the hope that happy times are still ahead, no matter what the globe tells you in this. This is what game nostalgia teaches us.
